Silverado Ranch’s therapists are doctoral and master’s level clinicians. They have extensive experience working with adolescents in a variety of settings, and are committed to providing high quality services to students and their families. The ranch is a unique owner-operated facility in which therapists have a vested interest in the program and the students.

Clinically, the ranch offers a relationship based, experiential program model in a therapeutic natural setting. Therapy is not reserved for the office; it occurs in all aspects of the program and is an ongoing process. Silverado Boys Ranch is an environment that can interrupt negative behavior patterns, remove unnecessary distractions, and allow healing to occur.

Therapist with Student
We believe boys respond best to therapy when they are actively and physically engaged. As they begin to internalize and achieve balance with the core principles of work, love, and play, they begin to grow emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Every day begins with a team cabin meeting, daily chores, and academics. Individual therapy and family phone therapy is offered once a week, and speciality groups are offered weekly. Fridays are reserved for experiential outings and recreational therapy. All activities are designed to help students overcome personal challenges, enhance problem-solving, improve communication skills, and increase self-esteem.

Ranch staff members are trained in the core principles and are taught to role model healthy living and appropriate communication. The core of our program is the process of building and maintaining genuine relationships; relationships that connect the student with staff, with peers, with family, and with himself. Every day at the ranch allows a student the opportunity to develop new skill sets, new attitudes, and new insights and to break the cycle of self-destructive thoughts, feelings and behaviors.

Each student, based on their respective cabin, will be assigned a coach. The cabin coaches will become very familiar to the student during the student’s time at the ranch. The coaches will be actively involved in guiding the student through the daily structure and schedule of the program. Their role is to support the student in their treatment goals and to challenge the student to learn and grow as much as possible during their time at the ranch. The cabin coaches are responsible for a vast range of functions from participating in issues and therapy groups to supervising chores and projects. One of the significant goals of the program is to teach each student the importance of learning necessary daily living skills. These skills will increase self-esteem and personal competency.
