  • Eric comes to Silverado with limitless passion and energy. He has worked with youth in various roles including residential counselor, residential supervisor, and clinical therapist. Eric received his undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science at Utah Valley State College and his master's degree in Social Work at Brigham Young University. Eric has experience working with a variety of adolescent-specific issues, including substance abuse and adoption. Being adopted himself, having an adopted son, and working previously as an adoption social worker gives Eric a unique perspective while working with adoption-related issues.
  • Eric has lived in several states, but has a special fondness for Hawaii, where he spent much of his youth. Arriving home from school, the backpack was dropped, the board quickly waxed, and off Eric dashed to surf until sunset. Eric also has a passion for horses. He received his first horse when he was five, started riding, and used trips to the mainland to ride and rodeo. He also spent many years working with his grandpa on the farm, tending to animals, bailing hay, and driving the tractor. Eric loves the rural setting of Silverado Boys Ranch, as it brings back many of the lessons he learned through hard work and hard play; he now has the exciting opportunity to teach these same concepts to the students of Silverado.
  • Eric has been married to his wife Shannon for eighteen years and is the proud father of three sons and two daughters. Eric does his best to keep up with his kids as they enjoy skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, horseback riding, baseball, and fishing.

  • Tony grew up in Ogden, Utah and attended Ogden and Washington high schools. After graduating in 1993 he became a carpenters apprentice while working towards his Journeyman status. Upon that achievement, Tony worked as a carpenter in Salt Lake City for ten years.

  • Tony battled with drug addiction for most of his teen years and well into early adulthood. At the ripe old age of 26, he entered rehab and started his life in recovery. The next four years went well; Tony married and began attending Weber State University in the program of respiratory therapy, and studying microbiology with an emphasis in epidemiology and public health. Tony’s long-term plan is to become a therapist, as his gift is to help others.

  • His approach to recovery from addiction is “I am not responsible for my disease, but only for my recovery! And that I keep what I have by giving it away as freely as it was given to me”.

  • Tony utilizes the traditional 12-step model in his personal life and at Silverado with the students. Tony emphasizes working the first four steps and a relapseprevention& recovery plan while students are in treatment at SA. Tony is a big believer that “we can’t keep what we have unless we give it away”.

  • Tony enjoys working out, skiing, and is a fan of all sports but would rather play than watch! Tony and his wife and their family of five children live in Panguitch.

Mark T

"Silverado has exceeded all of our expectations. We have seen significant improvements in our son’s attitude toward school, friends, family, and life. The balanced combination of academics, therapy, and outdoor activities form a solid platform to transform troubled teenage boys into healthy young men."

Jeff W.

"Silverado is a place where our son could learn about himself and explore his challenges with the support of an entire community, including his counselors, teachers, supervisors, and peers. The staff members show genuine concern for the well-being of every boy and make sincere, constructive efforts to build a family environment. Silverado’s philosophy of work, love, and play as well as its emphasis on connecting students with nature within very special settings were all factors of our placement decision for our son."

Natalie S.

"The natural beauty and outdoor activities coupled with the fine academics and warm and caring staff made Silverado a natural and healthy choice for our son and for us."

Randy S.

"We did know where to turn for help… Silverado saved his life and gave us back our “real” son."

Trish

"The tremendous passion, commitment, and love the SBR staff demonstrate to our boys is evidenced daily through their core principles of work, love, and play. I now see they are setting the stage for our son to become a man, and are helping us become the parents we need to be for our son."

Lee D.

"The balance of academics and therapy in a family atmosphere has had a great impact on our son and our family"

Sally & Dave W

"We sent our son of to wilderness an angry young boy, and he returned from Silverado a calm young man. What a difference the right environment makes. Thanks Silverado!"

Fay & Howard

" We can sleep at night knowing that at every level of care--from the therapists and teachers to the administration and support staff--Silverado provides a safe, nurturing haven for our son. In a short amount of time, our son's performance and attitude toward school, his relationships, and everyday functioning have greatly improved. The standards are high here, and the T.R.U.S.T. level system works!"
