  • Eric comes to Silverado with limitless passion and energy. He has worked with youth in various roles including residential counselor, residential supervisor, and clinical therapist. Eric received his undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science at Utah Valley State College and his master's degree in Social Work at Brigham Young University. Eric has experience working with a variety of adolescent-specific issues, including substance abuse and adoption. Being adopted himself, having an adopted son, and working previously as an adoption social worker gives Eric a unique perspective while working with adoption-related issues.
  • Eric has lived in several states, but has a special fondness for Hawaii, where he spent much of his youth. Arriving home from school, the backpack was dropped, the board quickly waxed, and off Eric dashed to surf until sunset. Eric also has a passion for horses. He received his first horse when he was five, started riding, and used trips to the mainland to ride and rodeo. He also spent many years working with his grandpa on the farm, tending to animals, bailing hay, and driving the tractor. Eric loves the rural setting of Silverado Boys Ranch, as it brings back many of the lessons he learned through hard work and hard play; he now has the exciting opportunity to teach these same concepts to the students of Silverado.
  • Eric has been married to his wife Shannon for eighteen years and is the proud father of three sons and two daughters. Eric does his best to keep up with his kids as they enjoy skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, horseback riding, baseball, and fishing.

"Silverado is a place where our son could learn about himself and explore his challenges with the support of an entire community, including his counselors, teachers, supervisors, and peers. The staff members show genuine concern for the well-being of every boy and make sincere, constructive efforts to build a family environment. Silverado’s philosophy of work, love, and play as well as its emphasis on connecting students with nature within very special settings were all factors of our placement decision for our son."
